Kenyan Police Deny Reports of Officers Killed in Haiti Deployment

The National Police Service (NPS) of Kenya has refuted claims that Kenyan police officers deployed in Haiti had been killed. Reports circulating on Sunday alleged that seven officers had died, accompanied by a provocative social media post aimed at Kenyan leadership. However, NPS dismissed the image as fake. Kenya recently dispatched its first contingent of 400 police officers to Haiti to assist in quelling gang violence and stabilizing the nation, which has been plagued by widespread crime and instability. This deployment is part of an international effort authorized by the United Nations Security Council in October 2023. Kenya plans to eventually send 1,000 officers to support Haiti alongside personnel from other nations like Jamaica and Benin.
