A recap of how things left off in season 2

Penelope and Eloise's friendship lies shattered

At the end of Season 1, Penelope Featherington is revealed as Lady Whistledown, known only to a few. In Season 2, her best friend Eloise becomes suspicious, leading to a confrontation. Eloise's investigation draws the ire of Queen Charlotte, causing a rift. To protect Eloise, Penelope writes a scandalous piece. Despite the fallout, Eloise uncovers Penelope's secret, leading to a bitter confrontation. Despite their rift, Penelope resumes writing by Season 2's end.

Colin publicly rejected Penelope's romantic advances

In Season 2 of Bridgerton, Penelope's unrequited feelings for Colin take a turn as he returns with a newfound maturity, showing signs of potential romance.

Penelope's hopes were high at the Featherington Ball, and when Colin asked Pen to dance, he dropped some big words: "I will always look after you, Penelope. You are special to me."

However, after her fight with Eloise, Penelope stumbled upon Colin speaking about his dance to a group of young men on the terrace. When they questioned him on his intentions with Pen, he scoffed, "Are you mad? I would never dream of courting Penelope Featherington. Not in your wildest dreams."

This is where Season 3 will resume. Maybe, if forgiveness is on the cards elsewhere, we can still hold out hope for a Peneloise romance.

Kate and Anthony happily ever after

In Bridgerton Season 2, Kate and Anthony marry after Edwina jilts him for her sister. The scandal causes uproar, but Lady Danbury supports them. After a stormy encounter, Anthony proposes to Kate, who initially rejects him, opting to return to India.

As the season concluded, following Anthony and Kate's encounter in the garden, Kate dashed off into a raging storm, only to fall from her horse and sustain serious injuries. Anthony was consumed by guilt. Yet, his mother, Viola, Dowager Viscountess Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell), aided him in confronting his genuine emotions, referencing their shared unresolved sorrow over Lord Bridgerton's abrupt passing years prior. Anthony proposed at Kate's bedside, a move she assumed was a "misguided obligation of duty". Deciding to return to India, she sent him away.
